About Mark Speckan

Having grown up in Vernon Hills, Mark has deep roots in the community. He and his wife both graduated from Libertyville High School (Go Wildcats) in 1984 and have many close family and friends throughout the area. They have 2 daughters, 2 sons in law and 3 grandchildren-all of whom live in Libertyville. Mark graduated from College of Lake County with a double major in Landscape Design and Landscape Construction and a minor in Arboriculture. He is a Certified Arborist through the International Society of Arboriculture.

Mark has been in the Landscape Industry for over 40 years. He has mainly worked in the Public Sector most recently retiring from Lake County Forest Preserves where he was in charge of the Forestry Division for over 19 years. He was also a Wildland Firefighter and a Certified Burn Boss for many successful controlled burns throughout Lake County. He was also a (part time) Firefighter with Countryside Fire Protection District in Vernon Hills for 33 years until retiring from both jobs in June 2022. Mark knew he could not stay idle for long and is very excited to join Matt and Tom on this new endeavor.

About Dr. Thomas E. Baier

Thomas Baier graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign, 1972 and attended Rush Medical School. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Southern Illinois University in Springfield in 1985. Dr. Baier is now a retired Orthopedic Surgeon. He practiced in Lake County for over 36 years starting in 1985. He was a partner in Greenleaf Orthopedics until 2018 when Greenleaf closed its doors. He finished his career at Advocate Medical Group until he retired Jan 1, 2022.
Dr. Baier has lived in Lake County for over 37 years. He is the father of 4. All his children went through the Libertyville school system and graduated from Libertyville High School. He has done extensive community services, such as volunteering to be on the side lines during football games for Libertyville High School for over 30 years.
In 2007, after being influenced by two of his sons serving in the United States Marine Corps, he enlisted in the Army Reserve at age 54 as a surgeon. He served as a Major, and was able to use his medical experience to support our military members injured in combat. He completed 3 deployments: Iraq in the summer of 2008 and Afghanistan in the winter of 2010 and spring 2012. After 8 years of service, he resigned his commission as a Lieutenant Colonel in November, 2015.
